We randomly stopped by BARCA while randomly touring Alexandria. Hey, it was a day of randomness. Since it was a beautiful early fall day, we decided to sit at the bar on the pier overlooking the Potomac. Our trip was pretty short because we were only having post-brunch cocktails, but we enjoyed our beverages. Also, I thought the prices were decent for the area. Overall, our service was fine. However, I will admit that it was difficult to get the attention of the bartender at times. I think this might have been attributed to the bartender ending his shift. Hopefully, during our next "random" trip to Alexandria, we can try try some of the food at BARCA.
This was our second visit to Barca Pier & Wine Bar, and somehow the food was even better this time! I loved everything we ordered--the French toast, stuffed peppers, scallops, shrimp & grits, and patatas bravas were all incredibly flavorful and delicious. The atmosphere is always great, but the friendly and accommodating service from the managers, Grace and Anna, really stood out. They ensured everything was perfect and added a warm touch to our visit. Our server, Aicha, was wonderful--funny, full of energy, and truly a character. Her personality made the evening even more enjoyable. I had such a great time, and the overall service was top-notch. If you're looking for amazing food, a fun atmosphere, and a welcoming staff, Barca Pier & Wine Bar is a must-visit. Can't wait to come back again!
Cute wine bar with indoor seating as well as pier views and seating. I found parking a few streets up and paid via the park mobile app. On a Wednesday during happy hour it wasn't too busy. I sat inside (where happy hour is) and received good service from the bartender. They have nice happy hour deals! I browsed the menu and it looked great. The wine selection is extensive and I didn't even get wine this time. I got the pomelo sangria and it was good. I got the hummus appetizer and it was probably the best hummus I've had. I need to come back. Definitely would be a great for a date night.
First time visiting Alexandria. I was craving seafood, looked up this place and went with a few of my girls. The view was beautiful and loved the layout of the bar. It's laid out as you were on a boat. I wanted something small, so I ordered calamari. They were seasoned well, with exception that they were just a hair too salty. Otherwise the temperature, presentation and how it was cooked, was just chef's kiss. I'd return for sure.
Glad this was a last minute choice. Barca on the water was so nice. Our server was polite but didn't really seem too enthused but rather uninterested. She was ok. Definitely wouldn't ask for her again. We ordered the whipped goat cheese, mushroom toast, shrimp and the steak. It was the perfect portion size to share for two. The shrimp sauce was Devine. It had lots of garlic so if you're not a garlic person this will not be your dish. The goat cheese was yummy loved the added fennel and honey. Def a nice combo. The steak was tender and the sauce that accompanied it...yum. Highly recommend if you're looking for a nice view and great food. Views 10/10 Service 7/10 Food 10/10 ENJOY!
My favorite tapas spot to go to. Love being by the water and the place has shade so it's very enjoyable. So many options, all are probably delicious. Today I got the patatas which were crispy flavor potatoes with a dipping sauce under it, 10/10. Their chicken/ pork tenderloin sandwiches were also good. The chicken was $12 and port tenderloin was $10. I went half half with a friend. They were smaller than I had anticipated and the meat portion on them were underwhelming. There was mostly bread than the toppings as well, so just except little sandwiches that taste good. The whipped goat cheese is always great. We should have asked for more pita chips because there was left over cheese (we used it on our sandwiches). Waitress was nice and I always recognize the great service here.
Barca Pier and Wine Bar in Old Town Alexandria is a favorite spot and I'm a frequent flyer! From the moment you arrive, you're greeted by stunning waterfront views that set the perfect scene for a relaxed meal. The tapas menu is both inventive and delicious, with options that includes an option for all dietary needs. The wine list is thoughtfully curated, offering a range of options that cater to all tastes, though the Pomelo Sangria is the real showstopper--refreshing and uniquely flavorful, it's worth visiting for alone. While the portions are naturally on the smaller side, consistent with the tapas style, every dish is crafted to deliver maximum flavor, making it easy to savor a variety of tastes. The ambiance is inviting and laid-back, making it an ideal spot for both a casual night out or a special occasion. Barca Pier and Wine Bar's blend of great food, exceptional drinks, and breathtaking views makes it an unmissable destination. A must-try in Old Town!
A great spot to enjoy a beautiful day and some tapas! Right in the water in Old Town, you can't get closer to the water - it's literally on a pier! Food was tasty, fresh and came out quickly! Steak 10/10 - cooked and seasoned to perfection! Very juicy and paired with the grilled vegetables, delicious! Octopus Salad 8/10 - simple and fresh! Chilled marinated octopus with fresh herbs. Must love octopus to enjoy this dish. Baba Ganoush 5/10 - we felt the dip itself was a bit bland, though she homemade pita bread made up for it! Pita bread was hot, fluffy and seasoned nicely! Would definitely come back on a beautiful day to enjoy the sun and small bites!
Tapas style restaurant. You can dine in, on the patio along the water, or patio along the restaurant Each dish is about $20+. Drinks range $13+ The SEARED AHI TUNA piquillo pepper and olive relish, pickled shallots, lemon aioli, olive oil ... $22 was phenomenal. BEEF KEBAB * garlic yogurt, herbs ... $14 was good TZATZIKI V labneh, greek yogurt, cucumbers, dill, garlic ... $12 bread YUM! POMELO SANGRIA: cabernet sauvignon, brandy, pineapple & grapefruit juices ...$9. Was watered down. Do not recommend We sat on the Pier. Watched boats pass by, airplanes fly into DCA. Patio is also covered. Good times!
Nothing better than sitting out on the water in the summer with a great breeze. You can see the Capitol Building in the distance. So I'm giving this four stars. On food alone it's a three. The menu is tapas. We love the pita and tzatziki, though the bread is a bit greasy. Kebabs are great. Filet of beef has too much piled on it to taste anything but the pungent blue cheese. That's not terrible, but it's not why you order the filet. Octopus is served cold as a salad and stuffed with olives and pimentos. After living in London, I would say it tastes tinned - it's a bit of an acquired taste. But the attractions are the water, the drinks, and the friendly staff. I've been here twice, and I'll go back again. DC has so few places where you are really out on the water that. Barco is like a little getaway.
